TEMPE, AZ, January 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia T. Mitchell, Senior Project Archaeologist at kp environmental, LLC, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in archaeology.
For the past three years, Ms. Mitchell has lent her extensive knowledge of bioarchaeology and prehistoric and historic archaeology to kp environmental, LLC, as a senior project archaeologist. The company provides private- and public-sector clients with environmental impact analyses, public process planning, public outreach and relations initiatives, and more. During her 25-year career, Ms. Mitchell has been able to form a level of trust with various Indian tribes, which has allowed her to successfully act as a tribal liaison. Her responsibilities include managing the cultural resources component of projects, recovering data, conducting a variety of lab analyses, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Ms. Mitchell became involved in her profession after moving to the United States from South America when she was 7 years old. Originating from a different environment, she easily began to notice cultural differences. As she grew older, she became increasingly fascinated with the study of different cultures. After participating in her first excavation, she knew that archaeology was the field for her.
An alumnus of San Diego State University, Ms. Mitchell completed both a bachelor's degree and Master of Arts in anthropology. Her excellence in the field earned her a Northern Allen Grant from San Diego State University and a graduate student assistantship. She is currently on the Register of Professional Archaeologists and is approved as a principal archaeologist by San Diego County and Riverside County in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act. Ms. Mitchell holds memberships to the Paleopathology Association, Society for California Archaeology and Society for American Archaeology. She plans to enroll in a Ph.D. program in the next year.
